“I rely on aid organizations and charity from generous people that know my situation”
Um Mohammad said: [AB1] “I’m a widow with 8 children, I recently arrived here and left everything behind.”
It is clear she has no stable income for her to depend on.
The main challenge is the poverty and the death of her husband which prevents her from having an income along with having to deal with her 8 children.
She mentioned that: “ because I have no money to stock food, sometimes the children ask for foods that I don’t have and don’t have money to buy”. She then started to cry.
It is clearly difficult for her to afford food for her children.
Um Mohammad said: “We are happy to see Ramadan. In this holy month, the mercy increases and help increases. This helps us fast during this month”
“Before the war in Syria. We used to prepare for Ramadan. Meals for the break of the fast. We used to assemble with our relatives for the breaking of the fast with happiness. We miss the feeling. Now life is difficult and most of our towns have been displaced and now live here and there in the border camps.”
“Food is little and we do not have money to buy it. We rely on what the aid organizations give us. From bread to grains and legumes.”
This parcel suffices them for almost a month. This makes them happy and will be greatly beneficial to their children.
“I can now cook meals for my children like chick peas, lentils soup and my children love rice.”
“Yes, it used to give us food packs and winter assistance when we lived near Saraqeb.”
Um Mohammad suggests we increase the amount of rice, lentils. She also suggest we add Halva, more jam and dates for the children.
She began to cry and said: “I hope this war ends and we return to our homes and lands.”
